Last Night: Worked Sasae Tsurokomi Ashi in combination with De Ashi Harai (Tori executes STA, Uki counters with a step forward, as Uki advances, Tori finishes with DAH) as well as reverse STA (using standard grip, pulling up on lapel side and forward on sleeve side).

Ne Waza: Escape from Yoko Shiho by walking hips away from Uki and using forearms along Uki's belt and neck to create space then composing the guard by bringing leg on the mat past Uki and locking up behing Uki's back.

Important note: Bridging when pushing with forearms will create much more space as will turning away from the leg which is trying to pass through to Uki's back.

Last night: Worked a sleeve pull lead into o soto gari (Both partners stand right foot back, Tori steps back and pulls Uke's sleeve. Uke steps forward as Tori brings right leg in for reap.

Important notes: Tori need only make a half step back while Uke should be forced to make a larger step so that Tori is very close to execute reap properly; Tori needs to follow through as quickly as possible so that Uke may not regain his balance.)

to a kesa gatame, at which time Uke turns into Tori to escape the pin (Uke walks legs away from Tori, grabs collar with left hand across throat, uses both hands to push Tori onto back, finishes with choke or yoko shiho.

Finished class with ne waza (BJJ style rolling). Need to learn to relax and work on breathing evenly. Practice proper nose mouth breathing.

NEW BLOG

The purpose of this blog is to record the user's progress in the arts of Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. More specifically, this blog will be updated as often as possible to recount new techniques learned and results of informal and formal randori and rolling sessions. At the time of this posting, the user has been studying these styles for about six months and is preparing to compete at a white belt level in each.

With any luck, this blog will be viewed solely by the user.
